Schkeuditz

The little town of Schkeuditz lies nestled between riverside woodland and the White Elster and Luppe rivers, Leipzig-Halle Airport and Schladitz Lake. Numerous well-developed, nature-orientated cycle paths criss-cross the town and its various districts – perfect for a leisurely few hours.

Culture-seekers will find everything they need in Schkeuditz. Planetarium events take place regularly at the astronomy centre. Furthermore, the Rittergutskirche (manor church) in the nearby district of Kleinliebenau, situated on the old Via Regia and renowned as a site of pilgrimage, features a Friedrich Gerhardt organ. The 17 meter high bucket wheel in Gerbisdorf is visible from quite a distance – a reminder of the region’s history of open-cast mining.
