Mills

For centuries, mills were at the centre of human society. First and foremost, they provided food and work; they were also an important local communication hub, and reflected the latest in technology and inventions. Today, mills are once again enjoying renewed popularity, thanks to their old-fashioned technology, traditions, and the romance of an age long gone. Every year, Germany holds a National Mill Day on Whit Monday, drawing plenty of interested visitors to view these technological monuments. From April to October, there are numerous events, open days and guided tours, as well as a range of cultural highlights. From time to time you may even hear the old miller's greeting "Glück zu".

More information about the individual mills is available from the non-profit organisation Verein Mühlenregion Nordsachsen e.V.
