The Luther Trail in Saxony

It is good for us to be free from our daily burdens...

The Luther Trail in Saxony invites you to visit the historical sites of the Reformation. It leads to places where the Reformation quickly gained a foothold and connects cities, sites and places where Martin Luther and his companions worked.

Discover the individual landmarks, hidden gems and historical sites of the Reformation in the Leipzig region! The Luther Trail in Saxony goes through idyllic heaths, woodlands and swamps to lakes and through the city of Leipzig. Another highlight are the cloisters, such as the Buch Abbey, Marienthal and the Nimbschen Convent, from which Katharina von Bora – who later became Martin Luther's wife – escaped. The idyllic hiking trail conveniently runs next to these historic sites.
