Passenger ships

Don't miss the boat…

Whether you're sailing across one of the lakes in the Leipzig New Lakeland, navigating the waterways of Leipzig, or cruising down the River Mulde or the Kriebstein Dam, a boat trip is always a popular excursion for young and old alike.

The Leipzig region is brimming with passenger ships inviting you to explore the lakes and waterways in comfort. Treat yourself to coffee and cake or other goodies from the on-board menu and sit back and relax while listening to the captain tell a host of exciting stories. Whether it's on Lake Cospuden, Lake Zwenkau, Lake Markkleeberg, Lake Störmthal or the Kriebstein Dam, it's certainly "Ship ahoy!" round these parts. You will also discover a number of special trips and on-board tasting sessions on offer. The ships regularly operate on the lakes during the summer season from March to October.

They are also busy plying the waters of the River Mulde at Grimma and Wurzen during the summer. For example, boats on the Mulde offer one-hour trips up and downriver, and also serve as ferries for hikers and cyclists.

One particular highlight is a trip from Leipzig Harbour to Lake Cospuden on the "LeipzigBoot". This smart boat was specially designed for the waterways that characterise the landscape. It is equipped with a low-emission engine and a low draft to reduce wave formation. Passengers can sit back and enjoy a comfortable, leisurely three-hour trip through Leipzig's alluvial forest to Lake Cospuden.
