Located between Leipzig, Delitzsch and Dübener Heide, a disused mining landscape is being transformed into a new lake district. Lake Werbelin and Lake Schladitz are two relatively large bodies of water currently taking shape which are suitable for a wide range of leisure activities. Other attractions include the small Lake Zwochau, which is evolving into a recreational area, and Lake Grabschütz, a nature reserve in the making. An extensive network of cycling and hiking trails is also being set up in the region. To the north of the town of Delitzsch is the Goitzsche Lake District covering an area of about 25 square kilometres. With amenities including sailing, the region is easy to reach by car, including on the A9 and A14 motorways.
